Ryan Reynolds is temporarily calling “Cut” on making movies.
The “Deadpool” actor revealed via Instagram that he is taking a “sabbatical” from acting now that he’s finished filming the “challenging” holiday movie “Spirited” for Apple TV+.
“Perfect time for a little sabbatical from movie making,” Reynolds, 44, captioned a series of photos from the “Spirited” set on Friday. “I’m gonna miss every second working with this obscenely gifted group of creators and artists.”
Reynolds also sang the praises of his “Spirited” co-stars, noting that working with Will Ferrell, 54, “made a whole lotta dreams come true” and that the holiday musical will mark his “second film with the great” Octavia Spencer, 51.
“These days, kindness matters as much as talent,” he wrote. “I’ve been lucky to work with folks who are flush with both.”
“Spirited” is a modern musical retelling of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” in which Reynolds will be playing the Ebenezer Scrooge role.

It’s unclear just how long Reynolds plans to take a break from acting. He has at least three upcoming projects in limbo, including the highly anticipated “Deadpool 3.”
Back in August, Reynolds told Collider that there was a “70 percent chance” that “Deadpool 3” would finally start filming in 2022, though Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce a director.
Reynolds is also attached to “Everyday Parenting Tips,” according to a 2020 report by Variety, and the “Clue” remake, though he recently confessed he doesn’t know if it will ever get made while talking to Screen Rant this summer.
