Meredith Marks hints she looked into Jen Shah after squad member STOLE handbag from store on RHOSLC – Daily Mail

Meredith Marks admitted to hiring a private investigator after a shocking incident where one of Jen Shah’s ‘squad members’ stole a handbag from her Park City boutique when she was out of town.

The 49-year-old jewelry designer recalled the event which took place six months ago during an emotional night just hours after Shah was arrested for fraud following a tense Homeland Security hunt which played out on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City on Sunday.

Marks, who owns a self-titled high-end retail shop in Park City, was out of town when the manger of her shop called to let her know that Jen was banging on the door after-hours and hoping to buy a few things.

Trouble: Meredith Marks admitted to hiring a private investigator after a shocking incident where one of Jen Shah’s ‘squad members’ stole a handbag from her Park City boutique when she was out of town

Meredith told the manager to let her and her friends in, where they shopped for a while and spent a few hundred dollars, only for the employee to notice a green crocodile clutch was missing from the table — a purse one of Shah’s friend’s had been eyeing.

Marks thought it was a big misunderstanding and advised the store’s manager to simply text Jen and ask, and ‘within 30 seconds’ a friend who’s name was bleeped out made plans to return the bag the following day.

Store footage showed the bag leaving in the arms of one of Shah’s squad members and subsequently returning to the store.

‘Jen did not walk out with a bag,’ Meredith said in a confessional, ‘But what really didn’t sit well with me is she kept someone who she knew did take something out of my store in her employment. That’s not my friend.’

Hot hands: Meredith told the manager to let her and her friends in, where they shopped for a while and spent a few hundred dollars, only for the employee to notice a green crocodile clutch was missing from the table — a purse one of Shah’s friend’s had been eyeing

Lisa Barlow, Meredith’s usual ride-or-die best friend, questioned Jen’s friend’s intent in a confessional.

‘It’s not that I don’t believe Meredith, but I’m, like, could it have been an accident?’ she asked. ‘Could there have been a misunderstanding?’

Meredith added a fun fact when she told the women a rumor that Jen had been ‘red-flagged’ at Louis Vuitton.

‘She pays in cash,’ she said. ‘Now, I don’t know if it’s true or false. It’s gossip. When you start putting all the puzzle pieces together, sometimes you have to believe things that you hear.’

Barlow, who owns and distributes VIDA tequila, was shocked to hear the tall tale.

‘Being red-flagged at Louis Vuitton would be far worse than the feds knocking at my door,’ Lisa Barlow said in a confessional

More problems: The Shah-strike didn’t stop there, though, as Heather Gay recalled a recent event where she had to ‘physically’ put Jen into an Uber at 11:30 p.m.

When she checked on her friend’s status minutes later from the ride-sharing app, Jen had abandoned the car and ‘gotten out, like, a half mile away on an intersection.’

The women were left in shock and questioned why she would leave her vehicle, and Lisa asked: ‘I don’t know what happened that night, but I just wanted to check with somebody and see if they met up with her.’

Newcomer Jennie Nguyen asked what was on everyone’s minds: ‘You think she’s meeting up with another guy?’

Whitney Rose chimed in: ‘None of us are safe unless they know the facts. We have all been lied to. We’ve all been attacked. If we do not share what we know, we are in danger.’

Not nice: Meredith had spent the better part of the season avoiding Jen after she called her 21-year-old son, Brooks, a ‘privileged twink’ online, in addition to liking a series of homophobic social media shares

Social media; A tweet was shown referencing Brooks as ‘privileged twink’ that Jen replied in agreement

‘I’ve just been, like, on my own journey of self-exploration, and just to see what I was seeing on social media and hear the terms that have been used growing up as a weapon against me, like, calling me a sissy b***h or whatever else, honestly, it’s really difficult for me to talk about’

Meredith had spent the better part of the season avoiding Jen after she called her  21-year-old son, Brooks, a ‘privileged twink’ online, in addition to liking a series of homophobic social media shares.

Shah denied ever liking anything from her own account and accused the people running her social media for causing any harm to Brooks, who, at the time, had yet to publicly discuss his own sexuality.

‘By perception, it looks like it was you on social media, and I had no clue it was someone on your team doing it,’ he told her during a recent episode of RHOSLC. ‘I don’t know how to articulate the pain I went through because of everything. I don’t want to get emotional again, but it was really difficult.’

‘I would never want you to feel that I somehow outed you,’ Shah said before apologizing to Meredith’s son.

Jen was arrested on March 30 and faces up to 30 years in prison for allegedly defrauding elderly people in a massive, $5million telemarketing scheme which prosecutors say went on for nine years.

Shah pled not guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering charges in April.

As part of the conditions of her release, Shah is prevented from traveling outside of Utah or the United States without the permission of a pretrial officer, and was also ordered to surrender her passport.

She is also not allowed to use a credit card, obtain a new line of credit, or contact her co-accused assistant, Stuart Smith.
